LGBTQ+ Counselling in Leeds

In Person | Phone | Online

Being LGBTQ+ can bring specific challenges to individuals due to the heteronormative and cisnormative ways in which society often operates.

My practice is fully inclusive of those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or any other sexual/gender minority.

I have developed specialist knowledge and experience through my work in various roles to support the LGBTQ+ community such as:

  • Creating and facilitating an 8 week self-advocacy course for LGBTQ+ individuals with autism and/or experiencing mental health difficulties.

  • Championing LGBTQ+ issues within a large mental health organisation to ensure staff were fully trained and supported and clients needs were being met by multiple services.

  • Establishing and facilitating a social group for LGBTQ+ people who experience mental health difficulties.

I regularly provide counselling to people within the LGBTQ+ community. This ongoing experience helps me to understand and support clients in many areas related to this such as:

  • Coming out to family, friends, colleagues and partners.

  • Difficulties around feeling accepted within society or their own community.

  • Exploring the positives and challenges associated with dating, relationships and intimacy.

  • Medically transitioning and navigating the complex systems involved.

  • Prejudice, discrimination and having to present differently in different situations.

If you identify as LGBTQ+ or are currently questioning this and would like to access counselling, please get in touch for a free initial consultation.
